Footwell rust and corrosion is one of the most common problems with the X100 series Jaguar XKs. It is also one of the most serious and had been known to write off a number of these classic Jaguars.
Footwell Rust Causes
This issue all stems from holes put in the chassis curing manufacture. These holes were used to move the car around when it was being built. Once the car was complete rubber bungs were put into the wholes to prevent water, grit and salt getting in from the road. Sadly, the bungs were not really up to the task of protecting the cars long term and most have long gone.
Once the water and rubbish from the road starts getting into these holes the rust begins. The problem here is that unless you look under your car or you take up the carpet it can go unnoticed for quite some time. It is only when the car fails it’s MOT and someone pulls back the carpet is the full extend of the rust seen.
Footwell Rust Repair
We are able to out the corroded section right back to where the metal is still good and essentially re build the footwell. This process will completely remove the problem so your car will be as good as new in that area. As with all of our work, it is done to such a high standard that you should have no more rust worries for some years!
