Corrosion is a major issue for the X100 series XKs. It is the most common reason they are finally sent to the scrap yard and it is simply not always necessary. With the right care and work nearly all of the common corrosion issues can be repaired. Taking your XK to a normal garage for repairs is likely to either lead to a large bill or worse lead to someone telling you it isn’t economical to fix. The reality is, in the hands of a specialist the car may well be repairable and go on for many years to come.

Footwell rust is one of the most common issues with the XKs. Essentially the issue is caused by rubber bungs that are fitted in the factory to close up holes needed during manufacture. Overtime this bungs fall out and because its underneath the car are the holes are not seen and left open. eventually the rust sets in and can eat through the entire footwell. We are able to cut and weld completely new footwell panels to not only repair the damage but offer a lasting cure.
Due to the size of the wheels a great deal of water, grit, salt and mud can get forced up into the wheel arches. If these are not regularly cleaned rust can set in. The sills and wheel arches are very prone to corrosion and in some cases this can eat right through the wing. The factory fitted protection degrades over time and so further exposing the wheel arches to the elements. We can repair, replace and re finish wheel arches, panels and sills to completely remove corrosion.
This is another common rust point in these cars. This section of the chassis is actually made up of multiple layers of steel. Over the years with all the usual grit, water and salt being thrown up from the wheels rust can start within these layers. Once it starts is slowly eats through all the layers because they were sadly not sealed properly in the factory. We are able to rebuild this section of the chassis and seal it properly to make a repair that is better than the original.
This part of these cars is only something that is proving more and more of a problem as time goes by. Though not as prevalent as the footwells and other issues rust in the front cross member can be very bad news. We are able to fabricate new sections and do all the welding work.
